Life Coaching: What it really is and how it really works

Coaching is a positive action-based process where a coach partners with you in a thought-provoking process that inspires you to maximize your potential. During your coaching journey you will need to acquire new knowledge to close the gap between where you are currently and where you want to be.

GROW coaching Model

The GROW model is a tool used by coaches to define a Well Formed Goal. You may already know the SMART method which make your goals Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-based. Well Form Goals will help you to go beyond “SMART goal” into the actual “programming” of your minds

You will assess them against your own


Reality to check that is compelling to you. A Well Formed Goal will be:

  • Challenging to keep your energy and motivation over the time,Congruent with all the area of your life, including your core values,

  • Under control: You will define resources you need to get and the blockers you will remove from your way,

  • Ecological: You will need to assess impacts on others,

  • Sensory based: You will visualize and feel it,

  • Measurable: You will define evidences that will allow you to recognize when your goal will be achieved.

Once your reality check is completed, you will define Options on how to actually achieve your goal. Your real challenge will be to think out of the box, without censure, and to resist the temptation to rush ahead. People generally generate easy options first.


As the old saying goes,

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always got”

You will then define comprehensive criteria to evaluate your options and prioritize them. Criteria may be time, ease, cost, rapidity of execution etc.


Last but not least, you will commit to your Way forward with specific actions to move towards your goal. You will clearly identify specific challenges you need to overcome, resources you need to get, due dates for each action and you will finally come up with an action plan.


The journey to reach your goal will not go in straight lines, you will tack and it will take some time. I will partner you to keep momentum, to assess your progress and to challenge you until you finally reach your goal.
